Mac made splashes not only in Canton, but in Cleveland as well, when on March 10 th, he was the seventh Charge player to receive a 10-day call up from the Cavaliers this past season. Then on January 4 th, Sheldon notched a season-high 37 points, driving to the hoop with 11 seconds remaining to clinch the OT victory against Fort Wayne. First, with 34 points on November 11 against Long Island, Mac dropped 15 points in the fourth quarter, including the layup at the buzzer to seal the 118-117 win. He is a relentless worker, both on his game and his body. “We knew the injury history but seeing him in summer league this past year we felt comfortable he could make a comeback. “After watching a lot of film on guys in the draft, Mac was clearly one of the most talented players available,” says Charge GM Brendon Yu. In 41 games played, Mac delivered 18 different 10+ scoring games, eight different 20+ games, and three 30+ scoring performances. Sheldon had the magic touch, shooting a staggering 50% from the floor along the way to leading the Charge in scoring on seven different occasions.

I’m sure he knew he could have averaged 20 plus points per game with more minutes as a starter but knowing the importance of his role of bringing instant offense as a reserve seemed to be something he relished. Long-time Charge play-by-play announcer, Scott Zurilla, observed, “The thing that really impressed me about Sheldon was, as a guy who absolutely is a starter in this league, he fully accepted his role as first man off the bench. The 6-6 guard out of Miami also averaged 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Mac was sixth on the team in minutes with 27 a game, but his productivity was outstanding, helping him to finish third on the team in points per game with 15.6. Sheldon Mac rose from the ashes, coming off a torn Achilles, to be reborn as one of Canton’s most dominant offensive weapons this season.
